Introduction to the THINKing Tools for Enhancing English Learning (TT) Learning Hub

The THINKing Tools for Enhancing English Learning (TT) Learning Hub promotes innovative approaches to strengthen language acquisition by developing holistic thinking skills. To better equip our students with 21st-century skills such as digital literacy, creativity and critical thinking, the hub encourages the use of thinking tools to make students’ thinking visible.

THINK—A Planning Tool for Teachers

This learning hub provides a planning tool called THINK to facilitate teachers’ planning process. The THINK planning tool outlines five key "Planning Strategies" which teachers are encouraged to consider when implementing curriculum and instructional approaches.

By incorporating these planning strategies, teachers can create learning experiences that are thematically relevant, foster higher-order thinking, promote proper values and attitudes, navigate multi-modal resources, and leverage students' English language abilities.

Thinking Tools for Students

Thinking tools are instructional strategies, visual representations, and concrete frameworks designed to support and enhance learners’ cognitive processes (such as noticing patterns, organising information, generating and evaluating ideas, and solving problems). They externalise internal thought processes by providing structure and prompts, making thinking visible, scaffolded, and more easily shared, discussed, and refined in classroom settings.
