  • Video submission: from 00:00 on 15 February 2027 until 23:59 on 14 April 2027.

Video Submission Regulations:

  • To avoid the use of copyright-protected materials, schools should ensure that no commercial logos, registered trademarks, or licensed images are included in the entry. If they would like to show the materials that inspired their entries, they are encouraged to create mock versions instead. Alternatively, they may use AI-generated images or copyright-friendly images available through the Creative Commons (See: https://creativecommons.org/) as long as they abide by the licensing agreements and properly reference the sources in the credits of the entry (to be completed in the online video submission form under “Credit Acknowledgements”).

  • To avoid using copyright-protected music or sound effects, school teams are encouraged to create original soundtracks and to acknowledge themselves in the credits. Alternatively, they may use AI-generated music or copyright-friendly music and sound effects available through the Creative Commons (See: https://creativecommons.org/) as long as they abide by the licensing agreements and properly reference the sources in the credits of the entry (to be completed in the online video submission form under “Credit Acknowledgements”).

  • Each entry must be uploaded to a personal or school online storage drive, preferably using one of the following commonly used platforms: Google Drive, Microsoft SharePoint. Please ensure that the video link submitted is set to be viewed by “anyone with the link”.

  • Upon submission of the video entry, the school confirms, through the online form, its acknowledgement and agreement that the Education Bureau (EDB) may use, reproduce, and publish the submitted video(s), as well as any photographs and/or video footage of students and teachers taken in connection with activities related to this competition, for promotional and publicity purposes. Such use may include publication on the EDB website and in other EDB publications and platforms.

  • Schools are requested to obtain consent from the parents or guardians of all participating students for the capture and use of their images and recordings for the above purposes.

Video Recording Requirements:

  • There should be no zooming in on the puppets while students’ performance is being video recorded; the camera should be in a fixed position for the duration of the show.
  • Sound effects can only be used during the video-recording of students’ performance and not added afterwards.
  • The visual and sound quality should be good enough for adjudication purposes.
  • No post-production editing or addition of special effects/sound effects is permitted.
  • Entries must be one shot with no cuts or edits. (The video entry is supposed to represent a ‘live’ puppet show.)
  • Backdrops should be ‘real’. ‘Virtual’ backdrops, e.g. using a projector or green screen, are NOT permitted.

Remark: If schools do not follow the above rules, marks will be deducted.
